Purpose: dump for aeronautical materials

The dump contains pieces of used plane engines and residues from machining, composed of a magnesium alloy with 3% thorium. The metal parts weigh 12.8 t and represent 2.56 GBq of thorium; the shavings and fines, in three drums and a can, weigh 94 kg and represent 18.6 MBq of thorium. The dump is on a military domain to which access is controlled [Andra 98, 99, 00].
